Cows.

I stopped eating hamburgers and ground meet recently. I think this is the end to beef in general for me. It made me cry, so don't watch it if you don't want to cry. Cows have feelings.

oh, and fuck that guy that was talking about how he jumps on cows heads. I hope he slips in the shit that he doesn't clean, and a cow steps on his head in return. Sorry for the brutality, that guy is just an idiot~

  1. I definitely think that this is just as sad as seeing the dolphins in pain and being brutally slaughtered. Why is this so much more acceptable? Or easily ignorable?

  2. I agree. It upset me so much from the very beginning. I don't know why this is acceptable. They could at least keep the cows outside, in a pasture or something to where they're not caked in their own feces. It gives the cows a better life leading to their death at least. You'd think that the cow murderers would try to keep the cows healthy if they're planning on feeding people with them.

    It's so terrible.

  3. This little film seems almost worse than The Cove because it’s so close to us. It is the same thing; these cows are basically going through slavery like the dolphins in The Cove and like humans once went through. In class, I was quiet when we started to talk about the cows in America because I’m very blind to the whole situation. After seeing this (& youtubing other videos on chickens) I’m giving up on meat. My sister asked me, “how are we really helping . . . I mean, Americans are still going to make the meat whether you eat it or not . . . & the Japanese aren’t going to change . . . I mean we need to eat meat to survive.” My only reply was, “well what did Adam & Eve eat?”

  4. As long as you do something about it, that's what matters. You can't change the world all on your own, but I'm really glad that this moved you. It's disgusting what they're doing to the animals. I wish that the humans behind the factories would have to deal with what the cows have to go through everyday.

  5. I think that the reason that so many people find cows and chickens okay to be killed for food, but look at dolphins being killed as something horrible, because of things like the “cuteness” factor that Morton discusses. Not only are dolphins adorable, but they are obviously intelligent, too. While cows are cute, they are really not intelligent animals. Anyone who has worked on a ranch or farm can tell you that cows are very stupid, chickens are filthy and mean, and pigs are filthy, too. When we look at dolphins, it’s like looking at this pure, intelligent animal, and therefore we see it higher up on the pyramid. Sad as it is, its a sense of justification, I think for a lot of people.

  6. They might not be as smart as dolphins, but they've got feelings. They know what people are doing to them. They know that their child is being taken away from them. I wish everyone would just eat soy everything, and take multi-vitamins...including myself.

  7. The recent films we've been watching as well as this one have also sparked something in me to attempt vegetarianism. Right now I'm in the trial period and the transition is proving to be a bit difficult. I am going to give this a go but I do believe there may be another alternative. Not saying you have to go out and raise your own cows but researching local farmers market who humanely care for their animals would be acceptable in my opinion.
